Reiki may help to balance the mind and body

Reiki
A system of healing originating in Japan. The word ‘Reiki’ (pronounced Raykee) means ‘universal life energy’, the vital energy that exists around and within all living things. Modern life, stress, illness and many other conditions can effect that flow of energy around and within the body. Hands are laid around and resting lightly on the body. The therapist treats those parts of the body that he or she feels are blocked or out of balance. This enables the energy to start to flow through the therapist’s hands to the client.
I believe that we are energy systems; this concept is the basis of many forms of complementary therapies, if this is also your belief or if you are searching to understand this concept, then you may understand how energy or the lack of that energy may affect us. When we are low or lacking in energy then we are out of balance. Reiki seeks to increase our vital energy and when we are ‘balanced’ and energised, then we believe that we may start to heal.
Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work?
Reiki may be used more effectively when the client is ready and wants to heal; it is my experience that if a client is not ready then no system of healing, complementary or allopathic, may have a complete and satisfactory result. A desire to heal and an openness to healing may be fundamental to the effectiveness of many forms of healing within the client's healing process.
Reiki may be used to reduce stress, encourage relaxation and to promote healing
Reiki may be used alongside allopathic medicine as well as reflexology and other complementary therapies.
